Island life is a breeze in the Mediterranean
Today we’re getting to know our first-year student, Jolie Ghobrial. When she’s not hitting the books, Jolie loves nothing more than exploring Gozo, enjoying the limestone cliffs, panoramic views, restaurants with delicious artisanal foods, and slow pace of life. Her second favourite thing to do is recommend all the wonderful things she’s experienced in Gozo.
Getting to know Jolie
Jolie says she chose Malta because of its unique combination of world-class medical facilities and beautiful scenery.
“Malta has loads of things that I love,” she says. “The classical architecture in Gozo. The modern life you can experience in the main Malta Island. The beautiful scenery by the water that surrounds you everywhere.”
But the biggest reason for her, she says, is the friendly and supportive population that calls Malta home.
“The people are really wonderful. Everything comes with a smile and a hello.”
Taking your first steps
For those of you who are just starting your journey at Queen Mary, Malta Campus, Jolie has some great advice:
“Make sure to take the sightseeing bus when you first arrive in Gozo. It takes you across the entire island and shows the best spots.”
One spot she highly recommends visiting is the Cittadella in Victoria.
Being a student at Queen Mary, Malta Campus also has its perks. Jolie notes the massive discount scheme that students get access to, including discounts at restaurants and coffee shops, as well as activities such as scuba diving, jet skis, yoga, meditation, and painting.
We’re grateful to have students like Jolie at our Malta Campus. We hope you found her insights helpful, and we can’t wait to hear about all the amazing things she’ll accomplish during her time here.
